Jewellery

By Carolyn - April 29, 2024

In the next few weeks we are going to have a go at wire wrapping beads to make earrings or pendants.  I will do more samples for the day, and we will do some simple drop earrings without wire wrapping to start.

We have a lot of beads that have been collected from broken jewellery, and I will bring lots of tiny spacer beads.  Wire and findings will be supplied, plated sterling silver.  If you fancy solid silver earwires they can be bought afterwards.

There is a good selection here:

if you have any round nose pliers, or any small pliers bring them along, there will be tools available to share.

I have added some YouTube videos to this playlist

wire conversions:
20 - .8mm
22 - .6mm
24 - .5mm
26 - .4mm
28 - .3mm

Bring along:
Any beads you have/broken jewellery
A ruler
Small pots/jars with lids to keep your chosen beads
Piece of felt, fleece or velvet to work on, it saves dropped beads bouncing away
any pliers
Any ideas that you have seen on the internet, search for "wire wrapped earrings"
Wire that might be suitable.
