Cutlery Roll or placemat - guidance

By Carolyn - January 15, 2023

The next sewing project for the dabble group will be a cutlery roll starting 26th January.

The roll can be as shown in the photo, or smaller, the one shown is supposed to be a placemat/napkin all in one.

Alternatively a padded placemat with cutlery pocket could be made

The roll can be made into other purposes, it will be more sewing and for a novice sewer a bit trickier, but still straight sewing

The place mat as shown measure finished size 13" x 15"

Fabric required for each mat:

1 piece of wadding 2oz 13" x 15"

1 piece of facing fabric 13" x 15"

1 piece of backing fabric 15" x 17"  ie 2 inches larger for 'binding'

1 piece for pouch 13" x 5½"

It is a case of preparing the front with quilting to wadding, add the pocket raw edges left on outer sides, attach backing on long sides right sides together with mat centred, turn to rights sides out, and the shorts sides prepared neatly and top stitch all the way around.  I will show you how to do corners.
