if you select the @ in your group message you will be presented by a list of names and you can select them, and they will get a nudge.

You can select some smilies on a reply so that the poster can see your reaction without writing a reply.  On your phone just hold your finger on the post, and it will give you a selection.  On the PC mouse over the reply and you will see a smilie icon next to each, click on it.
